Celebrating 10 Years of Sky Up Academy Studios in Livingston

Celebrating 10 Years of Sky Up Academy Studios in Livingston

Published date : 16 June, 2025

Sky is celebrating a decade of success at its Livingston campus, marking 10 years of its innovative Sky Up Academy Studios – a creative learning hub that has welcomed over 80,000 students since 2015.

To mark the anniversary, local MSP Angela Constance joined Sky staff, pupils, and renowned Scottish artist Craig Black to unveil the winning entry in the Capturing Creativity Competition. Pupils were invited to design a mural inspired by how Sky Studios has sparked their creativity. With over 450 entries submitted, the winning artwork – now transformed into a permanent mural within the studio – was revealed during the special event.

Angela Constance MSP said:

“Sky have been a major employer in my constituency for the past 10 years. The contribution Sky make to our local community groups is invaluable. The Sky Up Academy have hosted over 80,000 students since 2015, offering excellent skills development to all age groups, aiming to build confidence and develop essential skills. I look forward to seeing the progress continue in the coming months and years.”

The celebration also welcomed students from Greenhill Park Primary School and St Margaret’s Academy, who took part in a ‘show and tell’ session to share their experience and what they’ve learned from the programme.

Sky’s Group Head of Youth and Social Impact, Nishy Lall, joined the event to speak with pupils and highlight the Academy’s role in developing young people’s skills for future careers in the creative industries.

Sky Up Academy Studios continues to play a key role in supporting young people across Scotland – offering hands-on learning, building confidence, and opening up opportunities in media and technology.
