Angela Constance MSP has welcomed a major investment from the Scottish Government to help reduce NHS waiting times across West Lothian, as part of a £106 million package to support health boards across Scotland.
NHS Lothian will receive £22,379,275 to help cut waiting times for people in West Lothian. The focus will be on reducing the longest delays for vital procedures and appointments.
The funding across Scotland includes:
This is part of the Scottish Government’s wider £200 million commitment to improve NHS capacity, reduce delayed discharge, and support smoother patient journeys through hospitals. The aim is to deliver over 150,000 additional appointments and procedures across 2025-26.
Angela Constance MSP said:
“This is a clear example of the Scottish Government taking real action to support our NHS and improve care for people in West Lothian.
“By targeting funding where it’s needed most – from orthopaedics to cancer treatment – we can make sure patients get quicker diagnoses and treatment, leading to better outcomes.
“We know some people are still waiting too long, and that’s not good enough. But this funding shows a real commitment to doing something about it – and I’ll continue to work with NHS Lothian to ensure people in West Lothian see the benefits.”
