Angela Constance MSP Opens New West Lothian Community Race Forum Hub

Angela Constance MSP Opens New West Lothian Community Race Forum Hub

Published date : 09 June, 2025

Angela Constance MSP for Almond Valley was honoured to attend the official opening of the West Lothian Community Race Forum Hub at Crofthead Farm Community Centre. The event marked a significant milestone in fostering inclusivity and strengthening community ties across West Lothian.

Established as a registered charity in 2012, the West Lothian Community Race Forum has long been committed to promoting equality and understanding among the region’s diverse communities. Since May 2024, under the proactive leadership of Chairman MD Rahman, the Forum has expanded its outreach and initiatives. Mr Rahman’s extensive experience includes roles as Project Manager at Wellbeing Nest For Us, Community Connection Project Volunteer at West Lothian Council, Board Trustee at Theiya Arts, member of the Global Citizenship Steering Group (Scotland’s International Development Alliance), and Community Relationships Specialist at Police Scotland. His dedication to community engagement is further exemplified by his recent involvement with The Scheme, aiming to extend its reach to ethnic minority communities, and his role as a lifetime ambassador for West Lothian College.

The new Hub, a collaborative effort between the West Lothian Community Race Forum and the Chinese Community Hub, is envisioned as a welcoming space for all, encouraging collaboration and unity among the area’s varied communities.

Angela Constance MSP expressed her enthusiasm:

“I was delighted to attend the opening of the West Lothian Community Race Forum Hub. It is imperative that across all of our West Lothian communities we have positive relationships. Giving different people opportunities to spend time together learning about different cultures and socialising is key to advancing understanding and equality. West Lothian Community Race Forum and the Chinese Community Hub have come together to create a great space at Crofthead and I commend them for that.  Going forward, I have no doubt that having these facilities available will bring people from all walks of life together and  I want to thank everyone involved in making this a reality and wish them the best of luck going forward."
