Angela Constance MSP met with residents of Linburn Park to hear directly from them following sudden and distressing communications from Sight Scotland regarding the future of their homes.
Joined by local Councillor Carl John, Angela Constance MSP spent time listening to each resident, many of whom are veterans or family members of veterans, and all of whom spoke about the peace, stability, and strong sense of community they have found at Linburn Park.
Some residents have lived in the area for nearly two decades, having moved in were told they had a home for life. Several have complex health conditions, including PTSD and anxiety, and feel the environment at Linburn Park provides vital support for their wellbeing.
Angela Constance MSP, will meet with the Chief Executive of Sight Scotland next week, said:
“What the residents of Linburn Park are experiencing is deeply upsetting. These are people who have served their country or supported loved ones who have, and they deserve respect, not distress.
I was grateful to meet with them in person before speaking with Sight Scotland. I will be raising their concerns directly with the Chief Executive and exploring whether more compassionate, long-term solutions can be found that protect both the homes and the community here at Linburn.
I’ve also been in contact with the Scottish Government’s Veterans Minister to ensure this is on his radar, even though Sight Scotland operates independently. I will continue to support the residents and push for greater transparency and fairness in how they are treated.”
Angela has encouraged residents to share any further correspondence and will remain in close contact as developments unfold.
