Angela Constance MSP welcomes the second phase of Scottish Government funding for businesses in West Lothian and across Scotland. Overall the new package of support is £220 million investment with £100 million specifically earmarked for the recently self employed or sole traders who are ineligible to apply for existing government support schemes. This fund is to protect viable micro and small to medium sized enterprises who are in distress and will be open to applications by the end of the month. The remaining £120 million will be invested in the small business grant scheme and will enable businesses with second and subsequent properties to receive support.
In welcoming this news Angela Constance MSP said
“I have received many calls for help from small businesses, sole traders and particularly recently self- employed people who are ineligible for the UK scheme, therefore I am delighted that the Scottish Government has listened and responded to concerns and stepped in to fill some of the gaps in business support. This £100 million fund will be a lifeline to very small enterprises who are often the backbone to our local communities and economy. I hope this support will go some way to addressing the immediate cash flow problems and distress experienced by many small West Lothian businesses."
