Angela Constance MSP reached out and spoke to supermarket Managers in her Almond Valley constituency last week to recognise and say thank you to hard working store staff. During these difficult times supermarket staff are doing everything they can during the coronavirus pandemic to keep stores open and ensure food is on the shelf’s. The MSP also appeals to the general public to buy responsibly and not to indulge in panicking buying.
Most supermarkets are continuing to employ additional staff to cope with the pandemic and have allocated dedicated shopping slots to Support disabled customers and their carers, NHS and social care workers and continue to support online shopping for the elderly and other shoppers.
Ms Constance said -
"It is important that during the pandemic we show our appreciation of those who are working in our stores and supermarkets who are crucial in helping to feed the nation. We should remember that these workers are working long and hard to do everything they can to keep essential food shops open and well stocked. They also need our support so I would urge everyone to be patient and polite, say thanks and don't buy any more food than you need. There is enough food to go round if we all act responsibly”.
