DIGNITY AT HEART OF FAIR START SCOTLAND

DIGNITY AT HEART OF FAIR START SCOTLAND

Published date : 18 November, 2019

Angela Constance MSP has welcomed new analysis of the first employment service to be devolved to Scotland, Fair Start Scotland, showing that those who use the service overwhelmingly feel it has improved their life.

Fair Start Scotland, launched in April 2018 and helps people find work and particularly those who have struggled to find a job.

Fair Start Scotland's services are delivered by different providers across the country.  In West Lothian,   the service is provided by  Start Scotland Ltd

Nine in 10 people who used Scotland’s new employment support service in its first year felt they were treated with dignity and respect.

The Almond Valley MSP said:

“The positive response to Fair Start Scotland shows that the approach taken in both West Lothian and Scotland is really resonating with those who need help to find work.

“The service is well suited to those who, for any reason, may be at a disadvantage.  Health conditions, additional support needs and caring responsibilities, amongst other things, can present barriers to finding work.

“Fair Start Scotland was founded upon the principles of dignity and respect; these responses suggest that it is succeeding.”
